The Sonia Kashuk Sahara Sunset Highlighter ($19.99) is a new limited edition highlighter that recently launched with the Sonia Kashuk Spring 2015 Makeup Collection that’s available exclusively at Target.
I happen to be one of those obsessive highlighter collectors who loves beautiful facial powders but never uses them! I will say that it always delights me when I can double up a highlighter as a blush because in that case I’m way more inclined to use it versus it hiding it away in my beauty vault and only taking it out to pet it and whisper sweet nothings in its ear.
I think Sonia’s Spring 2015 Collection is possibly one of the best ones I’ve seen to date. As much as I love the brand there was a sense of repetitiveness with collections but this Spring Collection really brings something fresh and exciting to the world of Sonia Kashuk makeup.
The Sonia Kashuk Sahara Sunset Highlighter comes housed in a black and gold striped compact with a terracotta back and a full size mirror. Inside you’ll find a four shades of color in three different finishes. The compact has an art deco-like design that features Sonia’s initials embossed in a circle design of the powder. The colors are arranged in a strip of gradating colors that go from a warm orange to a soft golden beige, to a beautiful golden peach, to a tiny slice of bronze-y tan. The finishes are matte, shimmer, and satin. I was worried that the smaller matte strip of orange would not be visible on skin once I applied the powder and feared this would be merely lots of shimmer with very little color. But I was delighted the colors actually all work together to create a pretty luminous orange-y coral on my skin. There’s pigment here enough for the powder to do double duty as both a highlighter and a blush!
The powder is soft but is a bit powdery but not dry or chalky. It applies easily on skin and blends out beautifully but do take time to blend well so you can refine and polish the shimmery finish as it does have a good deal of sparkle! I thought I did this but when I walked outside into the sunlight and looked in the mirror I realized I had a little disco fever going on.
Sonia Kashuk Sahara Sunset Highlighter is a delightful little addition to my Spring wardrobe. When the days are still cold and Spring still isn’t here I get get a pretty flush of luminous warm and color on my cheeks! Plus I love the fact this well work well into Summer to add a touch of warm and radiance to my skin.
This one is very well worth a purchase!
Loves it!
